May 2017 Flying Stars (May 5-June 4)
What to Expect
Each month Stars ‘fly’ from sector to sector within a property. Knowledge is power so use these monthly forecasts to benefit from the highs and avoid some of the pitfalls. Do always remember though that a month is at most 31 days so a bad month in an annual good sector is not the end of the world.
Yin Wood Snake (Yi Si) in Summer
May takes us from spring to summer. With the arrival of the Snake month Fire element takes centre stage becoming prosperous and Earth now strong. Wood loses its status and becomes weak with Water (trapped) and Metal (still) their influence now take a back seat. Snake is located in SE3 (142.6-157.5) and is a Yin Fire animal denoting the first month of summer. Snake also signifies mid to late morning representing as it does the hours between 9.00-11.00 am in the 12 x 2 hours of the Chinese Zodiac. In the 24 mountains Snake has a clash relationship with the Pig (Boar) in NW3 (322.6-337.5) and combines with Monkey in SW3 (232.6-247.5).
As one of the animals denoting a change of season together with the Monkey, Tiger and Pig, this group is collectively known as the Growth or Travelling animals. Movement, activity, growth and exploration are all represented by this group. Do you have any of these animals in your BaZi chart?
If you do not know your Chinese animal year sign please contact us and we will be happy to send you the information.
Yin Wood Snake month begins on May 5 and ends on June 4. In the 24 Seasons of the Solar Calendar May 5-May 20 is the Coming of Summer. May 21-June 4 is Small Sprouting.
May has some interesting combinations that we should look into. Each of the Flying Stars returns to its home palace beginning with 5 in the centre. This will strengthen each of the palaces and it will be up to the annual stars in residence to make, break or help neutralise each sector. There are four sectors with He-Tu combinations (times two when you take the inherent energy of each sector into account) and these are East (3-8 Wood), Southeast (4-9 Metal), Southwest (2-7 Fire) and North (1-6 Water). West has 3 Annual/7 Monthly creating sum of ten.
The small number in the bottom left hand corner of this grid shows the
position of each of the stars in May. The colours also indicate the element created by the He Tu combination.
The dominant and timely energies of Period 8 (8, 9 and 1 stars) are located in East (8), Southeast (9) and Centre (1) for the year.
What is in store for each of the nine sectors of the Luo Shu Grid during May?
NORTH-Annual 6/Monthly 1: Resident Qi 1: North is one of the best sectors in May with the 6 Annual Star enhancing the 1 Water Star and creating a He Tu combination producing Water at the same time. 1 and 6 are both White Stars hence fortune favours the brave this month. Water generally indicates flow of wealth from career advancement or financial opportunities. Having your main door here and using it regularly or working in the north will benefit anyone (as long as you face one of your auspicious directions). Remember you have to do your part to take advantage of these positive stars so be on the look out and grasp chances as they unfold.
SOUTH-Annual 5/Monthly 9: Resident Qi 9: 9 Purple Magnifying Star visiting its home palace in May will do nothing to improve the South in May. Even though an excess of Fire will scorch and harden Earth (5 Yellow) it is not enough to make the area usable. As this is the location related to heart and eyes anyone spending time here could find themselves getting overheated very easily which in turn may cause stress levels to soar and blood pressure to rise. If you are already prone to hypertension then avoid the South at all costs. As we are looking for positives, the South is a no-go area for 2017 so if you have already made changes to avoid it for the year continue doing what you are doing and all will be well.
WEST-Annual 3/Monthly 7: Resident Qi 7: The annual 3 Jade Star of Disagreements has 7 Red Star as its companion in May. This 3-7 combination creates sum of ten. If your main door is located here you would be wise to ensure home and personal safety to avoid the negative consequences of the 7 Star. Otherwise as long as you remember not to activate the area thereby inviting the wrath of the Grand Duke in residence for the year all should be well.
EAST-Annual 8/Monthly 3: Resident Qi 3: East is auspicious in 2017 with the 8 White Star of Wealth visiting. May has the 3 Jade Star of Disagreements. Whilst creating a He Tu combination of Wood when doubled it is more likely to cause disagreements and disputes. 8 White Star is prosperous and relates to the mountain (Yin Earth) 3 Wood represents tall trees. Trees find it difficult to penetrate the mountain earth so this month could see stagnation or lack of activity in the east. Better to err on the side of caution where May is concerned and if you have anything important to resolve do not use the east palace.
NORTHWEST-Annual 2/Monthly 6: Resident Qi 6: The Annual 2 Black Star of Illness has the 6 White Star for company in May. One head of a household or business is fine, two in the same palace is likely to cause conflict and disagreements. They will be on a collision course causing disruption to the smooth running of a home or business. On the positive side the double 6 should be more than a match for the 2 Earth Star so illness should not be too much of an issue. Having the main door or office in the northwest may be the harbinger of conflict however there are positives here so be aware and alert and make your moves from a position of power.
NORTHEAST-Annual 4/Monthly 8: Resident Qi 8: Northeast welcomes the 4 Green Wood Star in 2017. With the 8 White Star/resident 8 Star the Northeast has prosperous vibes in May. Students can continue to benefit from the annual 4 and everyone else can benefit from the 8 White Star. Being a positive location having your study desk/office or main door here can bring success in studies and in business. Look out for opportunities and take advantage when they come along.
SOUTHEAST-Annual 9/Monthly 4: Resident Qi 4: 9 Purple Star of Future Prosperity is in residence for the year while the 4 Green Star returns home. The 4-9 He Tu combination creates Metal. Wood is now weak as we enter the summer season however this is a positive palace in May. Students, those of you seeking a loving relationship and anyone looking to increase their output in business terms can benefit from having their desk/bedroom or main door in the southeast.
SOUTHWEST-Annual 7/Monthly 2: Resident Qi 2: Annual 7 Red Star of Violence is joined by 2 Black Star in May. This He Tu combination creates Fire. There is harmony as Fire produces Earth and Earth creates Metal however be aware of the negative influences of the 2 Illness Star and 7 Star. If your main door is located in the southwest ensure it is secure at all times.
CENTRE-Annual 1/Monthly 5: Resident Qi 5: The centre has the conflicting elements of Earth and Water present. Earth is strong so better to keep this area quiet and as undisturbed as possible.
