February 2018 Flying Stars (February 4-March 4)
What to Expect
Each month Stars ‘fly’ from sector to sector within a property. Reading these monthly forecasts allows you to benefit from the highs and avoid some of the pitfalls. Always remember that a month is at most 31 days so a bad month in an annual good sector is not the end of the world.
Yang Wood Tiger (Jia Yin) in Spring
Year of the Yang Earth Dog will begin February 4 on a Yin Fire Rabbit (Ding Mao) day. This also sees the beginning of Yang Wood Tiger month; the first month of spring! Yes, I know it may be hard to believe however in the 24 seasons of the Chinese Calendar February 4 is the beginning of a new year and the beginning of a new season. February 4-February 18 is known as the Commencement of Spring, February 19-March 5 is identified as Rain Water.
An interesting start to the year sees the Wood Tiger controlling Earth Dog. As the natural world slowly begins to awaken after its winter sleep Wood now takes centre stage becoming prosperous with Fire now strong. Water will be weak.
Tiger resides in NE3 (52.5-67.4) around the compass. This majestic creature represents the hours between 03.00-04.59 in the 12 x 2 hours of the Chinese Zodiac.
Known as one of the Growth animals along with Snake, Monkey and Pig they each signify the start of a new season. They are the animals associated with travel and action.
In 24 mountains Tiger has a clash relationship with Monkey in SW3 (232.5-247.4) and combines wit Pig in NW3 (322.5-337.4). It is part of the Fire frame along with Horse (Wu) in S2 and Dog (Xu) in NW1.
If you were born in the Year of the Tiger what time of day was it? Do you have Tiger somewhere in your BaZi chart? Depending on its location (year, month, day, hour) it will have a specific meaning for you.

February shows a Sum of Ten combination in the East (Annual 7/Monthly 3). This combination usually indicates positive outcomes relating to wealth enhancement when the necessary action is taken at the right time. There are Early Heaven combinations in the North West (Annual 1/Monthly 6 creating Water), West (Annual 2/Monthly 7 creating Fire), South (Annual 4/Monthly 9 creating Metal) and North East (Annual 3/Monthly 8 creating Wood).
You may notice that February has each of the sectors of the Luo Shu Grid doubling up in terms of the monthly Flying Stars and resident element. For example North has 1 monthly and 1 resident; East has 3 monthly and 3 resident. This doubles the relevant energy for good or not so good.
The dominant and timely energies of Period 8 (8, 9 and 1 stars) are located in Southeast (8), Centre (9) and Northwest (1) for the year.
So what can we expect for each of the nine sectors of the Luo Shu Grid in February 2018? Do you know how to superimpose a Luo Shu Grid over the floor plans of your property? Are you able to identify where your important rooms are located? If not contact us and we will be happy to assist.
NORTH-Annual 5/Monthly 1: Resident Qi 1: Avoid this sector in 2018 if possible. Certainly do not activate the negative energies through noise, ground breaking or excess activity. Whilst the 1 White Star is an indicator of luck related to career this is not the time to make use of it. 5 Yellow is known to cause five types of misfortune, none of which are good. Water (North and Monthly 1 White Star) is at home in the North. The presence of 5 Yellow Star however for the entire Year of the Dog creates a conflicting relationship that is better avoided (Earth controls Water). Better not attempt to make use of this sector and risk any negative outcomes.
SOUTH-Annual 4/Monthly 9: Resident Qi 9: Things improve for the South sector in 2018 as the 5 Yellow Star moves on and residents can breath a sigh of relief. Make use of this area in February when studying or working as the 4 Green Star is positive for students, artists and anyone working in the creative field. The He Tu combination of 4/9 also invites good luck in business. As Wood and Fire are now strong this is an auspicious sector in February. There is however an excess of Fire so beware of fire related incidents occurring.
WEST-Annual 2/Monthly 7: Resident Qi 7: In 2018 the West escapes the clutches of the Grand Duke only to see 2/7 combination arriving in February. 2 is known as the Illness Star and 7 Star associated with injury and violence caused by metal objects. If there are unfavourable structures in the West or the area is excessively activated there is a chance of negative energies manifesting. While things will improve as the year progresses care should be taken in February. There is a He Tu combination creating Fire which can indicate successful completion to projects or undertakings.
EAST-Annual 7/Monthly 3: Resident Qi 3: There is a Sum of Ten combination in the East in February. This generally indicates positive outcomes relating to wealth enhancement when opportunities arise and action is taken. The controlling element of Metal on Wood will cause minor difficulties however Wood is at its peak in February whereas Metal is lacking strength of any kind in Spring making it unable to show its most negative attributes.
NORTHWEST-Annual 1/Monthly 6: Resident Qi 6: Having the 1/6 He Tu combination in the Northwest makes February one of the best months for the area. This pairing creates Water which is positive for wealth and career luck. If you have your desk here career promotion or an increase in wealth prospects can manifest. Make sure you grasp the opportunity when it arrives. This is a positive sector to use if you are seeking a new job. When you apply for a new position make sure you sit in this area to increase your chances of success.
NORTHEAST-Annual 3/Monthly 8: Resident Qi 8: A 3/8 He Tu combination creates the now strong Wood. There is effectively a double 8 in this area with the monthly 8 and resident 8. Remember 8 is still the number of the current period making it auspicious. Check there are no negative structures in the external environment to spoil what could be a great month for anyone looking to increase their financial standing. If you work for yourself you can begin new projects or campaigns when your office is located here.
SOUTHEAST-Annual 8/Monthly 4: Resident Qi 4: While individually the 8 Wealth Star and 4 Wood Star are generally auspicious the strength of Wood in spring will weaken the Wealth Star in February. However the strong period Star will still bring some good fortune to residents of the Southeast. Students can benefit from using this area for study. If you are looking for love activate the Southeast and take action. Sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring will not bring someone new into your life.
SOUTHWEST-Annual 6/Monthly 2: Resident Qi 2: The 2 Illness Star is doubled in February. However as Earth is trapped in Spring there should be little to fear. Better err on the side of caution however if you are the female head of the household as stomach related issues could manifest. 6 White Star can bring mentor luck to the area so if you are looking for help in your work or career seek someone who can advise you on the best way forward. They will be there if you only ask.
CENTRE-Annual 9/Monthly 5: Resident Qi 5: 9 Magnifying Star and 5 Yellow Star are in the centre this month.
Remember if you leave well alone and do not activate a sector Stars cannot be disturbed and will have no effect on your day to day life. Always check the external environment to ensure there are no negative structures likely to influence the energies of each sector.
